Great staff and great food! Quick, easy, and delicious. The chips are great, and their lunch buffet is awesome.

I am so bummed. For the second time their credit card machine charged my debit card twice. Waitress apologized but that's seventy dollars out of my account until the credit goes through....three to four days. They asked if it's a problem with my card - I said no it doesn't happen any where else. Then they admitted its a problem with their credit card machine. No coupon for next time or discount offered - just a snotty kick in the @ss out the door.

Went for dinner later on Saturday night. When told that we had a party of five the hostess had a minor meltdown. We waited in the bar for an hour for a table even though there were plenty of tables around (all four seaters). Apparently they don't have extra chairs to put on the end of the table. The bartender did serve us chips and salsa while we waited. We asked for waters for the entire table to two of us ordered shots. The only people that got water was those that hadn't brought drinks from the bar and neither of us got our shots (we didn't bother trying to ask again). The food was okay...nothing special..but not horrible. However as we were eating someone started vacuuming cleaning....literally all around our table I'm surprised she didnt' ask us to pick up our feet. Finally one of our party said "enough" and she quit, but it was almost surreal. There are plenty of mexican places in Sioux Falls, so I'd recommend skipping this place especially if you have more than 4 people.

Puerto Vallarta is a nice Mexican restaurant in Sioux Falls. The service is courteous and efficient. The entrees are excellent. I usually have a combo meal of a taco, Burrito and an enchilada. The only negative is the chips and salsa do not quite match the quality of another Mexican restaurant in Sioux Falls. Great food great service.

This was ALRIGHT. The waitress we had acted like she wanted nothing to do with us but was never directly rude. Still, not very good with the hospitality thing. The food tasted a little bland for Mexican food, I found I had to add Tapatio just to add some flavor to certain things (I rarely use that stuff, you know it's an emergency when I bust out some hot sauce). The price was okay for the quantity of food. I probably won't go back unless someone insists we eat there. Also, the horchata is disgusting and made with cows milk...it tasted like a really crappy vanilla protein shake. If you've never had horchata, don't order this one. If you have had horchata (and liked it) you'll be disappointed with it.

We went here for early dinner on Sunday 08/30/15. Service was poor - waiters unfriendly and and hard to get their attention. Food tasted old and without flavor. Very little green sauce on the enchilada and way too much cheese trying to cover up the fact that there wasn't enough green sauce. The fact that you have to ask them not to put sour cream and black olives on your meal is sad. We want authentic Mexican food, not "Americanized" Mexican food. Will not go back.

This is one of the worst restaurants for quality of food and service. Frying oil is over used. It takes long time to get the dinner served. They do not understand to follow instructions for specific need on dinner ingredients. When complained, the server said they normally do not offer deviation from menu

This was the worst meal we have ever had. It started with the appetizer of taquitos. The taquitos were fried in oil that was clearly rancid -they were bitter. Then, My son ordered a plain chicken burrito with chicken, cheese, and beans. The waiter who took our order said it would be extra $ for the cheese. We said no problem. When my son's order came out, the burrito was prepared as a taco. The waiter quickly realized the mistake and took the plate back to fix it. What came out next was a tortilla containing chicken and beans. My son didn't like it without the cheese. Since I was paying extra for the cheese, I requested that it be brought Out, he said that it was in there. I'm dissected the burrito to show him there was no cheese. At that point, he then said that the restaurant does not deviate from the menu and he did the best he could. Since he didn't deliver what we ordered, I requested that he remove the item from our check. He refused. I demanded to speak with the manager and that is when he said he was the manager. He then took off the burrito charge. We will never go back and you shouldn't go there either.

Super bad service! Waitresses walked by & didn't LOOK at our table. I believe the bartender was also our waiter & he spent most of his time visiting with the owner. Seriously this restaurant can't hold a candle to the East side.

What a difference! We had an unfortunate experience at our last Mexican food attempt, and were a little hesitant to try another one in SF. Luckily, we gave Puerto Vallarta a shot. 1. Food. 4. Delicious. Chips were hot, salsa tasted fresh and flavorful. I had the shrimp tacos - they were really smothered in cheese and sauce - tasty but not what I was expecting. The shrimp was well cooked and flavorful. The beans were flavorful and they had 2 kinds, the smooth refried and the frijoles which were perfect for our daughter. Her meal was a chicken taco with rice and beans and went over well. My husband mustered through the enormous burrito and fully enjoyed it. The margaritas were huge-normous and really cheap. 2. Decor - 3.5. It was comfortable, large dining room. Our daughter loved the mounted cow/steer heads and the decor was overall pretty nice. 3. Service - 5. It was a slow Tuesday night, but EVERYONE was super attentive. Our server was prompt, helpful and very friendly. He talked to our daughter and they even brought her a balloon. Overall this was a much better Mexican experience than our first one - and bonus! no food poisoning afterward!

My first visit to the new location on Louise Ave. It's a very spacious and inviting place with great food and service. Will return

I have visited PV several times and the service and food have been ok to horrible. I was in tonight and the steak ranchero. I was only able to make 2 tortilla wraps with the amount of steak I had, and I had to stretch it to get that. I am done paying $12 for rice and beans. Wait staff is hit or miss also. Some of them do a very good job. I can't say I recommend this place to anyone.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
